Don't Fuck Up Your Vote

Why we consider Greens as an Independent voice

So “technically” the Greens, and other minor or micro parties aren’t by definition “independents”. However, unlike the two major parties (who are influenced by external influences and forced to vote in accordance with the party majority) the Greens do not form a policy position without 75% consensus within their membership group.

While it can be argued that this process is hardly efficient, and yes there will be many external influences involved in the policy positions of the Greens, anyone can be a Greens member and thus have influence.

In addition, we make the argument that a majority Government (so minimal Independent voices in Parliament) has less accountability in Parliament, and that a blend of forward thinking, passionate individuals who are not forced to vote in align with the major parties is a win for democracy.
